GTG Mixtape

Current playlist date:

Design done by Raymaru

Alas, it's September, the month when, for a lot of us, summer vacation comes to an end. Before that time we return to our real lives, we might get a little…lazy…due to our over-relaxing and fun times spent. We at GTG took it upon ourselves to interpret those feelings into song with this round's Mixtape, My Lazy Day.

So what do you do on your lazy day? Do you sit on your couch and channel surf? Do you stay in and play video games? Do you curl up and read a nice book? How about sleep for a good percentage of the day? Walk your dog in the park? Study up for the upcoming first day of school? Or tuck away from the world with your headphones and jam to good music?

Join us and enjoy your lazy day!

And just to plug, please check out our newly uploaded Music of Japan page!

NEWS, BACCANO!, Hatsune Miku

"When I'm feeling lazy, I'd take a break from any form of work and indulge myself with music, anime, or dramas. Thus, I chose my first song from one of my favorite anime series, BACCANO! This track really gets me into the right mood, and I can't help but think back to the enjoyable moments in the anime whenever I listen to this track and to the soundtrack in general.

My second song comes in real handy in consoling me when I have a lot of work to do but don't feel like doing it. Whenever I listen to this song, I take comfort in knowing that everything will work out in the end and that I'll eventually get my work done(even though I sometimes cut it close due to my laziness). Catching up on my Vocaloid songs is also something I tend to do when I'm feeling lazy to do anything else. This is why I decided to my third song from my list of favorites of Vocaloid songs. The music is mellow, different from the other two, but it is relaxing, which really fits in with my 'lazy' mood."

Deshi's featured songs

Yakushimaru Etsuko, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu

"My songs both have dreamy and whimsical sounds with almost nonsensical lyrics. It represents my ideal lazy day, sleeping in, day dreaming, doing little random fun things that I don't usually have time doing."

Jonas's featured songs

Déjà Vu, Yukie, Vocaloid, AKB48

"With work getting a bit more intense or at times where I go travel to a lot of places to have a bit too much fun, there are times that I need for rest. I decided to select songs that keep my mind at ease and a way to relax my mind. The very slow feel of "Sakura no Shiori", the slightly fast yet soothing voice of "Hanamai Tsukuyomi Tan", and the slightly upbeat but slow "Déjà Vu" (despite being in a dance game like Pump It Up) lets me rest in the couch for a bit."

The Brilliant Green, Sakamoto Maaya, Steve Conte

"The thought of lazy days recall for me memories of rainy Sunday afternoons – the proverbial long dark tea time of the soul – curled up by the fire, with a good book and a mug of hot cocoa. Doing nothing much at all, except perhaps listening to the symphony of raindrops ceaselessly falling, while contemplating questions whose answers must remain all too elusive. Ideally, you would have another to share these quiet reveries, but alas, such moments are more often than not, solitary affairs.

Such melancholic recollections entail a suitably mellow soundtrack. And so I can think of nothing more apt then a mixed selection of Japanese and English numbers from the inimitable Sakamoto Maaya whose haunting voice in "Afternoon Repose" and impecably realised duet with Steve Conte in "The Garden of Everything" perfectly encapsulate the sombre mood of the moment. While a change of pace and an optimistic hope for something more, is offered through the upbeat English ode to simply doing 'nothing' with someone - "You & I" from The (literally) Brilliant Green."

Raymaru's featured songs

Persona 4, Eyes on Me, Pursuing my true self, Radical Dreamers

"Lazy days, long ago, were all about staying in, playing video games, or channel surfing. All my picks this month are from some of my favorite music from video games. Hopefully they bring back memories of nostalgia to you, the listener, as they do to I."
