Thousands of abandoned baby chicks die at Madrid airport

Officers contacted two animal protection businesses — Salvando Peludos and AsociaciĆ³n para la LiberaciĆ³n y el Bienestar Animal (ALBA) — who sent personnel to rescue the survivors on Sunday.

Fernando Sanchez, president of Salvando Peludos, advised CNN that the predicament they discovered at the airport was “frustrating,” and wondered why somebody hadn’t lifted the alarm sooner.

“I hope I never see nearly anything like it again,” he said.

Carolina Corral, president of ALBA, instructed CNN it was a “horrifying” scene, and emotionally tricky to form as a result of the packing containers of chicks to locate the survivors. It was also a logistical obstacle for the group, which normally deals with cats and pet dogs, she mentioned.

Law enforcement claimed that the enterprise which operates the airport had contacted the organization delivery the chicks, but it refused to consider duty for them and left them deserted in the cargo terminal.

Investigations go on and police said that all those liable could be charged with animal cruelty.
