Hurricane Center Cone includes Florida

Florida is now in the forecast cone of Tropical Storm Eta, which continues to spin over northern Nicaragua after lashing the country’s Caribbean coast. The storm has weakened but is moving so slowly and dropping so much rain that much of Central America is on high alert. At least three people in Nicaragua and Honduras were killed in landslides. Eta came ashore on Tuesday afternoon south of the Nicaraguan city of Bilwi as a strong Category 4 hurricane after standing for hours off the coast. Questions remain as to where Eta is tracking down later this week and this weekend. Pursuit of Eta: More Maps and Models Many of the latest model guidelines no longer bring Eta so far inland and are slowly moving the storm back across the western Caribbean in a disorganized state. There is a chance Eta will be reinforced again later this week and this weekend over the northwestern Caribbean. That would mean impacts will be felt in the Cayman Islands, Cuba, Florida and the Bahamas this weekend through early next week before the storm is pushed west into the Gulf of Mexico.
