Kelly Loeffler tests positive for Covid, but will continue to be tested

According to Stephen Lawson, spokesman for the campaign, Loeffler tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday, but a subsequent test on Saturday evening was inconclusive.

Loeffler was maskless for most of the day on Friday with Vice President Mike Pence and Senator David Perdue during the campaign events. The trio rode a bus from the airport to two campaign events for Runoff election for the Georgia Senate seat in January.

“Senator Loeffler performed two COVID tests on Friday morning. Her rapid test results were negative and she was approved for participation in Friday’s events. She was informed later that evening after public events on Friday that her PCR test was positive, but it was retested Saturday morning after a meeting with doctors and those results came back inconclusive on Saturday night, “Lawson said.

“She has no symptoms and will continue to quarantine CDC guidelines until retesting is complete and an update is made available at that point,” Lawson said.

The campaign officer added that Loeffler will notify those she has had direct contact with while she awaits further tests.

“Senator Loeffler is on my mind. I pray that her test results will be negative and that she will be back on the field soon. Blessings,” said Rev. Raphael Warnock, her democratic opponent in the upcoming runoff election.
