South Carolina attorneys Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier and former federal attorneys Greg Harris, Johnny Gasser and Josh Howard had left the defense team by Saturday, a source said, calling it a mutual decision.

The source said the attorneys left disagreements over the direction of the defense’s reasoning.

New additions are expected to be added in the coming week.

The upheaval brought new uncertainty into the makeup and strategy of Trump’s defense team as he prepared to file charges against him Uprising in the US Capitol on Jan. 6.

Trump was all but certain he would be acquitted, however, as all but five Republicans in the Senate voted to reject the process earlier this month.
