The statement shared with The Hill said the GOP governor has “mild symptoms” and will be impeached for 10 days. Gianforte’s office did not immediately confirm the governor’s symptoms.
His wife, Susan Gianforte, is waiting for her test results and is not showing any symptoms.
The statement reads that the governor “has notified all individuals with whom he may have had close contact.” His staff will be tested for COVID-19 on Tuesday morning.
Gianforte received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine last week. He shared a video on social media of him getting vaccinated at Walgreens in the state.
The COVID-19 vaccine is safe, effective, and available to all Montanans ages 16 and over.

Gianforte is not the first ruler to test positive for COVID-19. Alaska Governor Michael Dunliffe (right), South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster (right), and Virginia Governor Ralph Northam (Democrat) have all tested positive for coronavirus, among many other governors.
