As almost always, these credit sequences predict the future of the MCU. If you haven’t watched it, don’t go any further – but if you want to know what’s inside, we’ll detail this below.
Full spoilers follow for episode 9 of WandaVision! The mid-credits scene revolves around Monica Rambeau, who showed off more of her newfound powers in the main part of the show. After speaking to Jimmy Woo and asking about Darcy, Monica said she should go to the Westview Theater by an unknown agent. After arriving and not seeing anyone, the agent turns out to be Skrull and declares that “an old friend of [Monica’s mother]”would like to meet Monica – asked where, she points up.
This clearly relates to Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, who we last saw in the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home (in which he also used Skrull agents to keep in touch with Peter Parker ), on board a space station. It seems that Monica will in some way join Fury, most likely as part of the Secret Invasion series, in which Fury and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn) investigate a sect of Skrulls who have infiltrated the highest levels of authority in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The post-credits scene is a little less easy to interpret. We see Wanda moved to a remote cabin in the mountains and apparently lived a simple life on her own. One final reveal, however, reveals what appears to be an astral projection of the Scarlet Witch exploring the Darkhold (the book of magic that Agnes refers to in the finale). At the end of the scene we hear Billy and Tommy beg for help.
Since Billy and Tommy seemingly disappeared at the end of the series, along with Wanda’s remembered version of Vision, this seems to suggest the idea that portions of their sons are staying alive somewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or should the multiverse be? We know Scarlet Witch will be a part of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the projection of their reading is a recall to scenes in the original Doctor Strange film in which Stephen Strange learned magic while his body was sleeping.
Perhaps Wanda’s interest in Strange is learning how to step between realities in search of her children. This could also be a link to the popular theory that Mephisto will become part of the MCU in its final stage. While the Demon Lord was not exposed as WandaVision’s Big Bad, we saw in the Loki series trailer what could be a reference to him. Since Mephisto has a penchant for collecting souls, Billy and Tommy may have become part of his collection – which would explain why they are begging for help too.
But before we get to that any Of the above, we still have the good old-fashioned action of The Falcon and Winter Soldier to go. The series begins on March 19th on Disney +.
