The shooting occurred around 6 a.m. when a team of law enforcement officers executed a federal court-ordered search warrant on a violent crime case against children, FBI Special Agent Michael D. Leverock and spokesman Jim Marshall said.
Two of the injured FBI agents have been rushed to the hospital and are in stable condition. The status of the third injured agent was not clear. The subject of the warrant is dead, the statement said.
The FBI said its inspection department is investigating the shooting.
“The review process is thorough and objective and will be carried out as quickly as possible under the circumstances,” said the FBI’s statement.
Sunrise Police spokeswoman Otishia Browning-Smith said the shooting took place at 6:04 a.m. at the Water Terrace apartment complex in Sunrise. The person the officers were looking for barricaded himself, she said.
